The search for the Rock'n'Roll in education - or - Design Thinking meets Open Education
- open track
- 16 November 10:00 - 10:30
The field of education experiences exciting times. Massive open online courses like Coursera, EdX or the Khan Academy are challenging the way traditional school and university education has been organized for a long time. New Programs like Sugata Mitras child driven education are bringing skills and knowledge into communities where they have been inaccessible for a long time but are needed most. Community labs are giving everybody a low barrier entry point to develop their skill in state-of-the-art technology like 3D printing. Fab Labs around the world explore education "just-in-time" not "just-in-case" with amazing effects on the motivation of learners.
The session will explore how and where Service Design Thinking can help to navigate that change and build new and open education systems that create value for the individual as well as for the society. Systems that are working with our motivation and not against it. And that feel like fun and Rock'n'Roll to the individual.
